Reboot - Day 7

Protein balls, shrimp stir-fry, cocoa nibs, chocolate milk, and Uncle Harvey…

I celebrate for the first time ever that I am half way through a cleanse! Today I feel a lift of energy. I have a new spring to my step and a refreshing glow that feels amazing! Maybe I’m through the upward dredge of my conscious cleanse climb and have reached a summit. The headaches still come and go but eating a conscious, organic diet has made a tremendous effect on my whole life. The way I plan. The way I shop. My cooking has changed and my taste buds have rebooted!

Doing a cleanse or starting a yoga practice is about creating life changing habits that help us to keep illuminating our greatness. To purify and clear space goes far beyond brussels sprouts and hemp seeds. It’s clearing our negative thoughts and breaking bad habits that we’ve created somehow along the way. I’m grateful to have the motivation to keep reaching for the next day and to see what’s on the other side of a 14 day cleanse.

My meals: AM, oatmeal - yes again - with blackberries, cinnamon, almond milk, and almond butter. I made a ‘hearty smoothie love’ with blueberries, spinach, banana, almond butter, chia and flax seeds, and coconut water. It was quite tasty. After teaching two yoga classes, I was famished. I had a ‘super big easy salad.’ It’s a whatever’s in the fridge kind of salad. I poured a rather large heaping spoonful of the homemade dressing over it and added tons of avocado. Very yum! We went to Whole Foods today and I scored a free bag of cocoa nibs! They priced it incorrectly and in exchange for their error, gave me a free bag of nibs. To top it off, my favorite coconut water (Harmless Harvest) was buy one get one free! I walked out feeling very cheery considering how much I spent! For dinner I made ‘vegetable medley stir-fry’ with garlic, ginger, broccoli, carrots, green beans, zucchini, celery, and mushrooms. We stir-fried shrimp and sautéed lemon pepper chicken breast. It was all amazing and satisfying. My son even gave it a two thumbs up. After dinner my sweet tooth kicked in and I have had a headache for about four hours now so I made ‘protein-packed almond butter balls’ and cocoa nib chocolate milk! Unfortunately I can’t eat them tonight but I excitedly await those little balls dipped in chocolate milk tomorrow! haha

Around 9:45pm my Dad and Grandma FaceTimed to let us know my Great Uncle Harvey died this morning. He lived in Tacoma, Washington and lived to be 97. He wasn’t in a hospital and didn’t suffer. This news was sad and symbolic. My aha moment - life is sacred. What we do with our lives is sacred. What we think, what we do, what we eat, our habits, our people, it all matters. Participating in this cleanse is a reminder to live my life fully. My Uncle Harvey was a cool, old dude, drove until he was 90, and lived a very long, happy, and healthy life. I only hope I get to be as lucky.

Namaste ~
